Burch&Co is made up of brilliant, caring and unique individuals. Each member of the team brings their own perspective and passions to their role. Collectively, we are united in our human centered approach to law.

The Meet the Team series aims to shine a light on the wonderful humans that make up Burch&Co. In this instalment, please meet Ryan and get to know a little bit more about your legal advisor.

Tell us about a professional achievement you are proud of, and why.

Being offered a role as an Investment Associate at Ingenious in London. I had been working as an Associate Private Banker in Melbourne and discovered a passion for investment – particularly in early-stage businesses. Moving to London was a risk – a place on the other side of the world where no one knows you, with no job offer, in the hope of a job in early stage investment.

I am proud that I stepped out of my comfort zone and backed myself in, securing the role within just a few weeks of arriving in the UK. The experience affirmed my professional interest in investing in early-stage businesses – which was a significant factor in wanting to join Burch&Co.

What about a personal achievement?

Playing water polo in the Victorian State League 1 – because this is the highest level of competition in Victoria.

Personal life motto?

“Be honest and be yourself”.

What does your typical day look like?

First up, I like to go through any emails that have come in overnight and catch up with Hana (who heads up the Startup & Capital Team). Then my day largely involves drafting or reviewing documents for clients – which may relate to capital raising, corporate governance or a wide array of commercial matters. Often a meeting or two, and keeping clients up to date on their matters.

Why do you like working at Burch&Co?

I like working at Burch&Co primarily because of the importance placed on caring about others and being courteous. Although this is such a simple thing, it’s refreshing and unique – something I really value.

I like that I am afforded the opportunity to be personable and engaging when helping our clients – without impacting upon the expectations of professionalism and excellence.

What is your favourite Movie?
