Sharing stories, finding solutions
This April, we have joined forces with Shirley Robinson Childcare Centre (SRCC) to support their Toiletry & Coat Drive for Djirra.
Djirra is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that provides practical and culturally safe support to Aboriginal women, particularly those who are currently experiencing, or have experienced family violence.
The name Djirra comes from the Woiwurrung word for the reed used by Wurundjeri women in basket weaving. Traditionally, when women gathered to weave, important conversations took place and problems were solved.
Today, Djirra symbolises Aboriginal women still coming together to share stories, support one another, and find solutions.
To support SRCC’s Djirra Donation Drive, from Tuesday 28 April to Wednesday 6 May we will be collecting:
- New and second-hand coats
- New toiletries
You can drop your donations to the Commons reception at 55 Collins Street Melbourne or if you are part of the commons community at the donation drop point on Level 3 (near the pool tables).
